Our name has changed! The word "Tidewater" was causing too much confusion with other clinics in the area with similar names, and so it was changed to "Veterinary Specialist Care".
Help us welcome our new technician, Jennifer, to fill Cynthia's position (she retired!)
Help us also welcome Delora as our part-time bookkeeper!

Major Pet Symptoms:
A veterinary specialist has undergone an additional 3-5 years of training beyond vet school and is board-certified in a specific field. Your pet should see a specialist for many of the same reasons you yourself might see a specialist. Just like people, pets can develop a variety of serious illnesses in which the skilled expertise of an experienced board-certified specialist can be invaluable. Should your pet exhibit unusual or nonspecific signs, or not be responding to therapy, a specialist can often target the problem more quickly and then determine the most effective course of action. In addition, a specialist will possess a high level of expertise and skill in safely performing a number of different tests and procedures. Just as you would be referred by your own family doctor to a specialist for additional testing or a special procedure, such as an ultrasound or a biopsy, your pet will similarly benefit from the additional skills and knowledge offered by a veterinary specialist. Unlike human medicine in which insurance companies limit the referral process, a referral from your vet is not mandatory to schedule an appointment with us.
